LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA – Travel restrictions for the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project are scheduled to resume at the New Year’s holiday weekend travel period ends Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2018, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today. 

Project-related travel restrictions planned for the week of Dec. 31 are as follows:

New Jersey side  

  • Bear Tavern Road/County Route 579 on-ramp to I-95 South — OVERNIGHT closure 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, Jan. 2, and (tentatively) Wednesday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan. 5. (affected motorists should follow posted detour routes — SEE ATTACHED MAP A)
  • Route 175/River Road and on-ramp to I-95 north – OVERNIGHT full closures in the vicinity of the I-95 approach overpass to the Scudder Falls Bridge 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, Jan. 2, through Friday, Jan. 5 (Note: Corresponding on-ramp to I-95 northbound will be inaccessible during these overnight closures; affected motorists should follow the posted detour routes — SEE ATTACHED MAP B)

Pennsylvania side

  • I-95 north from the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (Exit 49) to the Scudder Falls Bridge – Intermittent single-lane travel configurations noon to 6 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, Jan. 2; and 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Wednesday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan. 5
  • I-95 south from the Scudder Falls Bridge to the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (exit 49) – Intermittent single-lane travel configurations 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. (next day) Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday Jan. 5.
  • Taylorsville Road in vicinity of I-95 – Intermittent single-lane patterns noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 to Friday, Jan. 5
  • Woodside Road west of Taylorsville Road – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 to Friday, Jan. 5
  • River Road/Route 32 – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2; and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 to Friday Jan. 5

PA Canal Towpath:  Scheduled weekday closures 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, to Friday, Jan. 5. 

Weekends: No project-related lane closures are scheduled for Jan. 6-7

The aforementioned travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and equipment/materials mobilization considerations.  Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and to reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
