Monday’s closure of the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath is being postponed due to recent weather-related construction delays for the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.

The towpath closure was needed to ensure public safety with the placement of heavy equipment and installation of steel girders for a new approach bridge and ramp structures at the I-295/Route 29 interchange (old Exit 1, new Exit 76). This work has been rescheduled to begin toward the end of next week, with a corresponding towpath closure tentatively expected to begin Friday, April 13 and continue uninterrupted for five days.
