The I-95/Scudder Falls Bridge Improvement Project is in the Preliminary Design and Environmental Documentation (Environmental Assessment) phase that will involve environmental studies. This phase is expected to conclude in mid-2006. Once the Preferred Alternative is identified and the EA is approved, the project can move into Final Design, which could take another 2 years. At this time, the Commission projects a construction start by 2008 and completion by about 2010. This schedule is aggressive in order to be responsive to the increasing problems of congestion and safety at the Scudder Falls Bridge.
