The Commission has met with hundreds of officials, residents and stakeholders over the course of the project. After the release of the EA document in December 2010, 382 individuals signed the attendance sheets for the resulting open house/public hearing sessions and a corresponding comment period resulted in 295 written or e-mailed comments from the public and advocacy organizations. While the issues vary, there are some common themes including the need for information about the impacts of the project on properties, noise, and environmental features. To date, the issue most commented upon during the concept design/Environmental Assessment process was from individuals, organizations and officials requesting the Commission to expand the project scope to include construction of a multi-use path that would provide cross-river access for pedestrians and bicyclists. Due to the decision to toll the Scudder Falls Replacement Bridge, the Commission has circulated an Addendum to the Environmental Assessment (EA) in November 2011. This Addendum includes a section containing responses to comments made on the original EA by elected officials, special interest groups and private citizens.
