The public participation process for this project has been extensive and the list of consulted organizations is voluminous. There were five stakeholder meetings with environmental, transportation, smart-growth, and business and industry groups. There were ten public open houses and township meetings on both sides of the Delaware River. Four presentations were made to local organizations such as Chambers of Commerce and regional municipal and engineering advocacy groups. Four special agency coordination meetings were held with environmental resource and regulatory agencies of the federal government, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Four meetings of an Interagency Advisory Committee composed of transportation, regulatory and planning agencies and county/local officials were held. Correspondence with agencies continued throughout the development of the Environmental Assessment (EA) and is documented in the EA report. Finally, ten newsletters were issued in conjunction with the project. A hotline number and project-specific website were established and they remain in operation to this day. After the issuance of the original 561-page EA in December 2009, the Commission held additional meetings with stakeholder organizations upon request. An open house/public hearing also was conducted on the EA in January 2010. Local officials and stakeholder organizations were among the participants in that process. Written comments were received from 20 government agencies and officials during the EA comment period.
