The Commission notifies private property owners in advance by letter when field survey work is required on their respective properties. On the day of survey fieldwork, project staff will knock on the respective property owner's door to give notification that he or she is there to conduct studies. All staff wear picture identification badges so residents know that a surveyor or project specialist is authorized by the Commission to work on this element of the project. If an affected homeowner is not at home when survey work is being conducted, a flyer is left to inform the resident that studies were conducted on the property while he or she was away. The flyer provides information about how to contact the Commission if a resident has any questions about the field studies or other aspects of the project.
